CEREMONIAL STORYING
a community-based practice + a research methodology of storytelling as a ceremonial praxis, and ceremonial praxis as story-making. it is collaborative with more-than-human kin, rooted in indigenous lifeways, feminisms, and futurisms. it is as eternal as oral storytelling and knowledge-sharing, myth-making and the community as constantly in ceremony around the sacred fires, immersed in the sacred waterways, and at the feet of sacred mountains. my own storying is done in deep relationship with Andean territories, Mama Coca (the coca leaf), and across the territories of diasporic life between the lands of the Condor (Abya Yala) and the Eagle (Turtle Island).

writing in ways that honor the ancestral lineages of oral wisdoms, community-based practice, and a ceremonial way of life reflected in all works and words. moving beyond fiction/nonfiction into the realm where magic is ancestrally true, gods are ancestors, and our multispecies kin speak alongside us.
Audio: Cultivating the Sound Archive
listening to the voices of all our relatives in the symphonies sung by jungles, mountains, rivers, and oceans in the rhythms of day and night, dusk and dawn, and recording territories through these songs...building a sonic archive of all our relatives as stories to be held with honor, and relatives with voices to share into the narrative.
Dyeing: Coloring with the Textures of Pachamama
building a ceremonial practice of relationality with the many species of pachamama (mother earth) through the slow practice of gathering, boiling, and saturating materials in the colors of the earth and her many children.

Visual: Paint-Making w/Multispecies Relatives
walking la tierra and gathering mineral, plant and bone - in ceremony and with permission - to grind, and mix, and bake colors into paint. and then, seeing what stories the colors want to tell.
Multi-Media + Video Storying
what are the ways we can tell many stories, layered and woven over and with each other that engage sound, color, and texture of relationship? how can video become a conduit for this kind of storying in collaboration with relatives of all species?
Performance Storying: Experiential Story Portals
how do we carry the stories of homelands into the diasporas we might inhabit across territories? how do we enact ceremonial storying in relationship with community? how do we bring the stories off the page or screen or silk into living being - where, through the shared and collaborative portal of story, we make it a new practice, one that can shape our collective futures? let's build the story portals together.
